FARMERS INSURANCE TO SPONSOR m.i.l.k.® DIGITAL ID EVENT IN HENDERSON, NV. Children to be photographed for Personal Safety Records .
HENDERSON, NV —3RD THURSDAYS— Grant Insurance Agency is hosting the m.i.l.k. Digital ID Event every Third Thursday ArtsWalk as part of a national effort to provide parents with personal digital IDs of their children in the event their child becomes lost or missing.
At the ArtsWalk from 5:00 p.m. to 8 p.m., parents can obtain free, standardized, high-quality digital images of their children, fingerprint kit along with a free copy of the Home Organizer® software program ($49.95 retail value) to store their digital photo.
The Home Organizer®, developed by Imagery Concepts, LLC, is a virtual filing cabinet for family records and documents. The m.i.l.k. (Managing Information on Lost Kids) Digital ID gives parents a convenient location for storing a photo and identification information on their children. The program was designed to raise awareness of child safety and provide parents with an effective tool to aid law enforcement in the search for a missing child. The m.i.l.k. Digital ID has been called the first step in the Amber Alert.
“According to the U.S. Department of Justice, over 2,000 children are reported missing in our country each day. We believe that increasing awareness about missing children has never been more critical, and we’re pleased we can play a role in helping parents safeguard their children,” said __________ of __________.
One in seven missing children is found because of a photograph distributed by the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC), making a standardized, current photograph the single most important tool in finding missing children.
“Everyone has pictures of their children, but most parents don’t have a suitable photograph if their child becomes lost or missing”, explained Rebecca DeMauro, president of the Andi Foundation. “It is very important to have a recent, unobstructed head-and-shoulder photograph of the child. The picture should be stored on the family’s computer in the Home Organizer® software program, along with the vital statistics of the child, at the time the digital image is taken.”
m.i.l.k. Digital ID Events have been hosted in local communities across the country by a variety of organizations including police departments, retail stores, health facilities and fraternal organizations.
