Tempting Treasures by Jan

Tempting Treasures by JanWhether your favorite sweet treat is a traditional chocolate truffle, peanut butter fudge, a peppermint hard candy, or a lollipop, Tempting Treasures by Jan has the resources for you to make a fresh homemade confection masterpiece in your own kitchen. As the only one-stop candy-making supply house in the Las Vegas Valley, Tempting Treasures has all the ingredients for creating that perfect delectable for any occasion.

Owner Jan McWhirter offers nearly 3,000 chocolate and hard candy molds for every season and theme and has a large selection of fresh meltable chocolate, fondant sugar, pre-made cake fillings, satin ice fondant, Guittard wafers, sugar cake decorations and all the tools of this sweet trade.

Celebrating its 25th Anniversary in 2009, Jan purchased Tempting Treasures in 1984 so she could practice her hobby on a regular basis. She originally started the creative pastime when she was a child. Jan began using chocolate molds and as she got older took numerous cake classes. In 1976 she was introduced to candy molds and it wasn’t long before she began to teach classes at recreation centers, high schools and churches.

Today, Tempting Treasures, which is open Monday through Saturday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., is busier than ever. More and more people are interested in making their own candies and cakes for gifts or special occasions. She sees people from all over the Valley including first-time customers who are making their own wedding cake, tourists, candy-making veterans and novices. Jan admits that it isn’t just fun, it is easy to learn, especially with the simple step-by-step instructions, recipes and special tips she hands out to new customers.
