Spring Johns has been making people smile for 10 years with beautiful flowers and plants. “Making people feel good is a great way to make a living and spend your day,” said the owner of Springtime Floral. “I, along with two great staffers, really love what we do.”
After graduating from Las Vegas Floral Design School in June 2001, Spring opened Springtime Floral and her business has continued to bloom and grow. She provides professionally designed floral arrangements, baskets and other gifts for holidays, birthdays and special occasions, not to mention the “just because” times. The shop boasts a special room dedicated for all floral wedding needs with books and samples of great ideas for bouquets, boutonnières, centerpieces, aisle and altar arrangements, and more to meet every bride’s individual needs. Spring also stocks a variety of specialty gifts, including cards, frames, stuffed animals, jewelry, magnets, pet items and other treasures.
Springtime Floral offers weekly specials and daily deals which customers appreciate. They also like being greeted by Spring’s furry friends: Tori, a Black Russian Terrier, and Daisy and Carter, both Italian Greyhounds. “They are another reason I love having my own shop. I get to be around the pets, people and things I enjoy,” she said. Her husband Anthony Johns also gets involved and helps with deliveries in between shifts as a fireman and his Pure Energy Productions Mobile DJ business.
Spring moved to 113 W. Lake Mead Parkway in Water Street District 18 months ago from theEastern Ave./ I-215 area, and says it’s one of the best business decisions she’s made. “The move allowed me to buy this building, and the drive-by traffic has dramatically increased compared to what I previously experienced,” she said. “I love being in Water Street District. The area has such a sense of community, and it’s so nice being close to where I live and all the quaint places to shop and eat lunch.”
When she relocated, Spring benefitted from working with the City of Henderson Redevelopment Agency. She was able to take advantage of several agency programs, including receiving a $5,000 sign grant and façade loan. The latter allowed her to repaint her building, replace old wrought iron gates, add new landscaping, and remove and replace an old asphalt parking lot with a new concrete one. “The building looks so much better now,” she said. “It makes me proud to put my name on it.”
Since moving, Spring has become more involved in Water Street District and has joined the Water Street District Business Association.
