The business model that Ronald “Ron” Colquitt follows for his Ron’s Law Office falls right in line with Water Street District’s philosophy of merging small-town sensibilities and forward-thinking policies and programs.
“I opened my own law practice to help those most in need and bridge the gap between more expensive legal representation and the Public Defender’s office,” Ron said. “Our price structure allows people to retain private counsel instead of being assigned a public defender for potentially life-changing legal issues.”
“Most importantly, I’m Ron, not Mr. Colquitt; and I’m accessible 24 hours a day, 7 days a week,” he added. Being available and approachable is one of the practice’s core values, which is further illustrated by the Ron’s Law Office business name. “That’s why I put my name on the door,” he said.
The practice has grown steadily by word-of-mouth. Ron’s primary focus is criminal law, but he also handles personal injury and corporate work. Additionally, his legal experience has ranged from working with hotel/casino owners to simple misdemeanors. The friendly four-person staff includes his wife Natalie, who serves as office manager – another way the firm exemplifies the small-town feel that makes it and Water Street District unique.
After working with a large law firm, Sierra Health Services and another attorney in private practice, Ron opened his legal practice in 2008 in downtown Las Vegas. He later moved to his current 42 S. Water Street location in 2009, given the area’s growth and potential. “I wanted to be part of Water Street District’s vibrancy and growth,” he said. “I enjoy its small-town atmosphere, friendliness and overall look. It really reflects what I’m trying to create with Ron’s Law Office.”
A Las Vegas native whose parents came to Southern Nevada through Nellis Air Force Base, Ron has lived in the area all his life except for college and law school. After graduating from the University of Nevada-Reno in 1990 and Golden Gate University School of Law in 1993, he was admitted to the State Bar of Nevada. He and Natalie love Southern Nevada and are raising their four children here.
